Back

Okay, Mum, I kept my half of the promise. Can I go make some more mud bricks now?

If you cover them in tomato sauce, they don't look quite so bad

Ever More Handsome

Samuel's normal appearance is covered in mud so this freshly bathed and smartly dressed photo makes for a pleasant change

Savoury Snack

When the rains first arrive, flying ants swarm everywhere. Cleaned and fried, they make quite a crunchy treat - honest!

Dad, if it's a cinema, can I bring popcorn to church?

These are the adventures of the missionaries Kane. Our three-year mission ... to boldly go where no man has gone before

Studio 333

We are now renting this abandoned cinema for our English speaking services in Tete. In the new year we plan to launch a second meeting in Portuguese

Our First Pit Latrine

Cholera and dysentery are huge problems in the rainy season. One of our development projects is the construction of ventilated pit latrines that offer much better sanitation

On the count of three let's all jump up and down and we'll see if the concrete slab is as strong as he says

I know my last sermon wasn't great, but that's not a reason for bricking me up inside

Pit Lined and Covered

Partnership at work: we provided a builder, the cement and other materials, but first the local church had to dig a 4m deep pit and bake a thousand bricks out of clay.

Brickwork Nearly Done

Here the builder is working with one of our pastors to lay the last few bricks. The spiral design keeps the inside dark so as to trap any flies inside the pit
