Back

The singing and dancing's fine, but the moment he brings out the offering plate, we're out of here!

If any more children turn up tomorrow, we'll have to stack them one on top of another

Open Air Meeting

This crowd of onlookers were clearly unchurched - curious about our message but unfamiliar with our songs and prayers. Nevertheless they listened attentively to the gospel

Moatize Children's Club

A team from Belfast came out to run a Holiday Bible Club for us. 200 children came along on the first day and obviously told their friends. By the end of the week we had more than 400!

It only looks like we're posing for a photo - it's actually the queue for the loo!

Now watch what happens to Samuel when I let go of this rope ...

Beersbridge Team

Ross, Patricia, Nichola, Claire, Laurence, Philip and Hollie (not shown) came out from Belfast to spend 12 days in evangelism and children's ministry

Church Banner

Samuel, Nathanael and Daniel proudly show off the banner that advertises our bilingual English-Portuguese church in the centre of Tete

Do you want curry sauce with your order?

You'll never see this exercise technique in a keep-fit video

Snack Time

A boy shows off the collection of mice that he has caught and killed. These will be barbecued and sold as a tasty snack to any hungry passers-by

Pounding Maize

This woman is pounding her maize to remove the husks and turn it into a rough flour. She then uses the maize flour to make the thick porridge that is the staple in this part of Africa

I prefer paying my tithes with money - I never heard of a man's wallet breaking his toes!

Always read the small print: the Yellow Brick Road comes as an optional extra

Bringing in the Tithes

Pastor Cafuliza and his wife Edina set a good example by being among the first to bring the tithes of their harvest into the local church. We have been careful to emphasise tithing in our teaching as it is a vital key to sustainable church growth

Moulding Bricks

Our church in Capirizanje has a simple building made of poles and thatch. Of their own initiative, the members are moulding 2500 bricks and are determined to build a more permanent structure. Such willingness is a clear sign of growing maturity
