The following
song was written as a fun family project to create a new missionary song out
of the Chris de Burgh classic, "A Spaceman came Travelling."
You can judge for yourself whether or not we were successful. We have recorded the song as an mpeg file that can be

A Missionary came Travelling
Sharon Kane
The missionary arrived in our village in his car,
He was tired and dusty for he’d travelled so far.
For hours on the dirt when he ran out of tar,
And he didn’t know where to start, where to start.
He brought out a box – oh we had no idea,
Of the pictures and music that would come out of there!
As he cranked up the engine our hearts filled with fear
And the children they all ran away, they ran away
Then the film started up and we learned of a guy,
Who healed and comforted all who did cry,
He died on a cross but he rose by and by,
And the angels raised him up - into the sky.
And they sang Hallelu, Hallelujah; Hallelujah
Hallelu, Hallelujah, Peace, goodwill to all men.
And praise to the King.
Hallelu, Hallelujah; Hallelujah
Hallelu, Hallelujah. Praise to the King.
From that day forward the stories went round.
Of the white man with a box that made pictures and sound,
And those of us who asked about Jesus, we found
That in him new life abounds, life abounds.
So the missionary taught, and he showed us the way,
To live lives that are pleasing to God day by day,
But then came the time when he could no longer stay,
And we must remain in the faith, strong in the faith.
So we sing Hallelu, Hallelujah; Hallelujah
Hallelu, Hallelujah, Peace, goodwill to all men.
And praise to the King.
Hallelu, Hallelujah; Hallelujah
Hallelu, Hallelujah, Praise to the King.
Oh the whole world is waiting to hear of God’s Son,
Who came down to this planet to save everyone,
And till they’ve all heard - the job’s still not done.
And so must we all obey, obey his call.
Till all sing Hallelu, Hallelujah; Hallelujah
Hallelu, Hallelujah, Peace, goodwill to all men.
And praise to the King.
All sing Hallelu, Hallelujah; Hallelujah
Hallelu, Hallelujah, Peace, goodwill to all men
And praise to the King.
